Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
During a Reiki session, the practitioner places their hands on or just above a client's body. The practitioner conducts universal energy from their arms, and out through their hands where it flows into the client's body. When a practitioner and client come together they are the two oscillating/vibrating objects discussed in the definition of en-trainment. Every cell in our body and every atom in the universe is in a constant state of vibration. The tendency for two objects is to lock into phase so that they vibrate in harmony. In most cases, the weaker of the two oscillating objects will have a tendency to adjust to the stronger vibration which is Reiki energy.
No, Reiki is not a form of massage. While both practices involve touch, Reiki focuses on the transfer of energy rather than manipulating muscles or tissues.
Reiki is known to promote relaxation, reduce stress and anxiety, relieve pain, improve sleep, and enhance overall well-being. It can also complement traditional medical treatments and support the body's healing process.
Reiki is not a substitute for medical treatment, but it does support the body's natural healing process and promote overall well-being. It is often used as a complementary therapy alongside traditional medical treatments.
The duration of a Reiki session can vary, but it typically lasts between 60 to 90 minutes. However, shorter sessions may also be available depending on the practitioner and the client's needs.
The frequency of Reiki treatments depends on individual preferences and needs. Some people may benefit from regular sessions, while others may choose to receive treatments on an as-needed basis.
Reiki is not tied to any specific religion or belief system. It is a holistic healing technique that can be practiced by individuals of various spiritual or non-spiritual backgrounds.
